Why choose an RD?
An RD, or Registered Dietitian, is the true nutrition expert. There are many people and organizations who claim to be weight loss experts or who offer "nutrition" advice but Registered Dietitians have gone through extensive training and education to become licensed and certified in the state of North Carolina. To become an RD you must: 1) receive a Bachelor's degree in dietetics or nutrition from an accredited college or university; 2) complete a supervised clinical internship at an accredited institution; 3) successfully complete the national Registration Examination for Dietitians; and 4) maintain recertification by completing at least 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years. Many RDs also have specialties for which they received advanced degrees and specialized certifications. This makes RDs the most valuable source for nutrition advice and guidance.
